Why Do Something About Homelessness?

"Homelessness severely reduces an individual's quality of life as the daily grind of street life takes its toll. Studies have shown that people experiencing homelessness are more likely to die younger and have significantly poorer physical and mental health than their housed counterparts.

The cost of doing nothing about homelessness is very expensive. In fact institutional and emergency responses to homelessness are roughly ten times more expensive than residential-based care (even when stacked with support)."

Portland, Oregon has had immense success at reducing homelessness. Now, the city of Victoria is trying to learn and apply Portland's methods.

Show You Care Capital Campaign

We need your support to raise $1 million. The campaign begins in the fall of 2008.  We expect to reach our goal prior to the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for spring 2009.  Construction of the building should be completed in early 2010.

Ways to give:

SHOW is a registered charitable organization and all donations to the campaign will receive the appropriate recognition and a receipt for income tax purposes.

Donations can be made in many ways:

• gifts of cash
• gifts in-kind
• pledges over a period of five years
• stocks or listed public securities
• memorial gifts
• 

Help us start a path of renewal as the homeless receive  shelter,  support, dignity and hope,  as they re-enter our caring community.
